Concept
The 2013 Impact Report microsite was created to showcase National Geographic’s global initiatives and highlight 395 funded projects, as well as inspiring stories from around the world. It aimed to illustrate Nat Geo’s dedication to education, exploration, and making a positive impact globally.
Design
As the lead for UI/UX development, we collaborated closely with the Editorial team to create a seamless, interactive, and visually engaging platform. The microsite incorporated compelling visuals and easy-to-navigate features to highlight National Geographic’s initiatives, enabling users to explore the impact of projects through dynamic storytelling.
Challenges
The project had a tight timeline, with just a few weeks to launch in alignment with Earth Day. Coordinating between the UI/UX design, editorial content, and technical development teams was crucial to ensuring a smooth, engaging user experience. The challenge was to craft an interactive microsite that communicated the vast scale of National Geographic’s initiatives without overwhelming users.
Vision
The microsite’s vision was to provide an interactive, visually captivating experience that resonated with users while effectively showcasing National Geographic’s global influence. By blending storytelling with data-driven visuals, the site allowed users to explore National Geographic’s projects and made an emotional impact on millions of visitors, reinforcing the organization’s ongoing commitment to positive change.
