Through interactive storytelling, behind-the-scenes footage, and photographer insights, this cutting-edge showcase brings fine art photography to life. Designed with cinematic 3D rendering, seamless navigation, and high-quality visuals, Beyond the Frame offers a multi-sensory journey that transforms how audiences engage with National Geographic’s iconic photography.

At Riot of Colors, we redefined immersive storytelling, blending technology and design to create transformative experiences. Beyond the Frame was a VR-powered showcase and AR demo that took users behind the scenes of National Geographic’s most breathtaking images, offering a deeper connection to the art of photography.

The Experience

30-second 3D-rendered video demonstrated how Beyond the Frame seamlessly integrated into a VR headset, allowing users to:

  • Step inside the story with a cinematic gallery of National Geographic’s most iconic photographs.
  • Explore behind-the-scenes content, featuring photographer insights, image details, and creative processes.
  • Engage with an intuitive VR interface, designed for seamless navigation and discovery.

In addition, we developed an AR prototype using Google Cardboard, which allowed users to explore artwork in real-time through image detection, providing additional content that could be shared on social media.

The Riot of Colors Approach

  • Developed a highly polished 3D showcase, ensuring that every element—from UI design to environmental storytelling—delivered an experience that was both visually compelling and interactive.
  • The AR experience was powered by a web-based control panel, allowing easy management and updates of the content.
