The Concept
Inspired by a news article about a hiker who fell 100 feet down a cliff and spent days immobilized before being rescued, Trailsafe was designed to enhance hiker safety in remote areas. This wearable device is specifically engineered to respond to shocks, such as falls, and can be activated manually if the wearer requires assistance.
Unlike cell phones, which may be destroyed in an accident or fail to receive a signal in remote regions, Trailsafe utilizes GPS tracking to send emergency alerts to authorities when needed.
The device’s shock-activated system alerts emergency services upon impact, but it can also be used to notify authorities in case the wearer is lost, stranded, or in danger. The logo reflects the rugged, adventurous nature of the device, while the wearable itself is crafted from elastomeric materials for enhanced shock absorption. The band features a topographic texture, with the Trailsafe logo serving as the indicator light.
The device’s light changes based on its status: a soft gradient when “on,” red in the event of a fall, and yellow when activated manually. A simple press of the top will send an alert to authorities, with a second press deactivating the alert and flashing green before returning to the “on” state. Trailsafe aims to provide hikers with peace of mind, knowing that help is always within reach, no matter how remote the location.
